::Austin Apple Store :: [/tech/mac] (23:38)

The new year started with rumors of an Apple store in Austin springing out from ifoapplestore. I didn't really believe the rumors, but with Apple store job postings popping up for an Austin store, it looks like the rumors are true.

The location is Barton Creek Mall. I thought the Arboretum was more in line with the Apple image, but Barton Creek does make sense and it would get a lot more traffic than an Arboretum store. My office is right around the corner, but I don't really care for the area at all. (anyone know of any good downtown/UT area companies that need a java guy?) But, in the end it is a good location. It is relatively close to downtown and is easily accessible to everywhere in Austin.

I've only been in the Houston Apple store once, but it was a pleasant experience. I like the idea of the genius bar for those times you just can't figure something out. I like the idea of the in store classes and the possiblities of other events in town. It will be very cool. The only question left is: when will it open?
